A PARALYSED SOCIETY/ Gerontocracy

Here the following is a letter published by The Financial Times on 09/08/14 sent by Mr Angelo Richiello against GERONTOCRACY in Italy:

_Sir, The return of the 79-year-old Leonardo Del Vecchio to lead the company he founded, Luxottica, after ejecting Andrea Guerra signals that italy is still a gerontocracy ("Luxottica chief has long-range vision of growth", september 3). Mr Del Vecchio is a similar age to Silvio Berlusconi.
The 39-year-old prime minister, Matteo Renzi, is an exception to the rule; but some might imagine him as a puppet whose strings are moved by some mummies in an old palace in Rome or Sicily.
We need views and opinions that shake up our paralysed society. Do you want to see other Del Vecchios at helm of Corporate Italy or, even worse, at Palazzo Chigi ? I don't, thank you. Angelo richiello - Milan , Italy_
